Day 6 @ Lewis & Clark State Campgrounds

i woke up this morning to the sound of bacon sizzling and a handsome clean shaven and showered Rooster!  The skies were bright blue, the winds still high with winds of 18-22mph and gusts far exceeding that. You will recall our gas (car) situation, so that was close to being second on the agenda after a hearty breakfast (the R had bacon, fried gags and toast and I had my fave of a bacon sandwich).  Having a sewer connection proved to be a bonus as I decided today was wash day and cleaning day.  We have had days of rain, so many of our clothes and towels and knickers were in a composting heap waiting to be laundered.  After breathing musty smells getting in the shower, I had this brilliant idea to do the way in the shower.  Armed with what I had (Tide) and after allowing the water to gather heat, I did several loads, lamenting the absence of fabric softener and Shout.  We then hung our laundry out to dry in the wind.  People looked askance as they headed to the "comfort station" but I didn't care.  The Rooster in the meantime took a shot at finding a gas station selling gas for less than $4.00/gal.  I had a hunch he was doing that because he was gone so long.  The park sells gas at that price, but he thought he could get into "a town" on his fumes.  He succeeded.  After a total clean up of mopping, dusting an vacuuming with a little hand held thing, and filling up,the bag, I discovered I bought along the wrong bags, so I had to empty the only one I had until I can find more Oreck ones.  What is the likelihood of that?  Add Shout and fabric softener to that list.  After the house cleaning was done, we set out on a hike that lasted 2 hours before I insisted we bail because the R was catching ticks.  Lucy and I posed for a day 6 photo whereupon we realized she was full of them.   We got off the prairie trail, short of going to the Prairie Nature Trail Center and the R walked back on the road to get the truck while I walked to see Ranger Rick and deal with the tick situation on Lucy.  I purchased a tick remover thing cuz I was nearly puking trying to dislodge all of them and tried to appease Lucy with a popsicle until the R arrived with her furminators.  We then scraped her down of hair and ticks checking under her arms, legs, tummy, head, neck until,we thought it safe to bring her back to the HenHouse.  I was resting on my laurels cuz I dressed "appropriately".  T had on shorts and the new European fashionable white socks.  I had on long pants and socks with pants tucked into them. BUT I also had on a top that wasn't tucked in.

We were on the road early, stopped of at Mickey Ds for coffee and crap before heading home.  I do like Wisconsin.  It is a wonderfully beaut...
