well, well well! What a delightful day. Eureka. For those of you who followed my antics on FB, you saw all the pics along the way that delighted me. Probably more pics than all states combined. But a brief note about the double rainbow last night. That was wonderful to see and I do t honestly remember when I saw one last.
We set off leisurely after breakfast with little more than 50 or so miles to get to Glacier. First off, after pealing a tick off Lucy, I am pretty sure I saw a merkeet. The wise Rooster said no, he thought it was an acorn eating rat or something. But some of you know about the Subaru disaster and the Rooster hitting a Wolverine. He claimed it was something else, but I know my vermin. Anyway, off we went discovering a wildly different state. Again, oil and oil and oil, as well as grain, grain and grain, more cows, some horses, many native areas of near abject poverty and ranches. Horses moseying on the edge of the highway grazing on new found fund. Some cows doing the same. Some of the ranchers had magnificent views of the mountains. A rough and tough life with this as a bonus. A few more of those funny casinos. A stop a McDonalds for coffee spying a shop called "A dollar or Two" and a truck with a rebel flag making its back window from Montana. As we approached the Glaciers I had this thing going with the Pioneers Frank and Phoebe. How are we going to get to Seattle with those ahead, Dunno, maybe bear right, well Frank, frankly this could be a problem. Did you bring the sled, snowshoes? Shoot. I thought I packed them. Nice greens. Got your clubs? Geeze Frank, what did you bring. Well Phoebe, let's talk about what you forgot.....oh yeah. Sunglasses, warm sweatshirt/hoodie, but I remembered 6 light weight jackets! Anything else Phoebe? Um, yes. We will talk about that later Frank, cuz Frankly I don't give a damn.
So we began climbing and climbing and the gas gauge showed declining mileage to three mpg. Ah bit it was worth it. The majesty of it all was unbelievable. The GPS misguided us. Note you have to differentiate between St. Mary and St. Mary's. Redirected by a less than helpful Ranger Rick we ..cnext cont
